On Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th August, the Severn Sailing Club, in partnership with Tewkesbury Scouts, welcomed Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers and Adults for a day of water and bushcraft activities. This event is the first for the District with our new partnership with the sailing club.
Saturday was dedicated to Beavers, Cubs and Adults who were able to take to the waters and experience time on the water activities by working together in a bell boat, making their way down the River Avon. There were also soft archery and bushcraft skills led by the team at 1st Gotherington.
“The day had a great variety for the Beavers from canoeing as a team to learning independently the skill of archery. It was a fantastic day, well organised and enjoyed both by the parents supporting with the children learning life skills for the future.”
Joseph, Beaver Scout, and Tom (parent), 1st Woodmancote.
Sunday welcomed Scouts, Explorers and Network members who took to the waters and experienced time on the water. Again, the team from 1st Gotherington ran the bushcraft activities including axe throwing.
All members were presented with the Tewkesbury Water Badge which can be proudly worn as an occasional badge for one year on the uniform.
“‘I really liked everything … I liked the boating, archery and really liked the fire lighting and getting another badge”
Stanley, Beaver Scout, 1st Woodmancote.
